Chairman Russell Mock
Former Judge Russell Mock was sworn in as the Chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party on February 2, 2023. Before becoming Chairman, he served on both the Executive Committee and the Judicial Screening Committee for the party. He is the Precinct Executive for Cincinnati 4-F.
Chairman Mock was born and raised in Ohio and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dayton and then graduated from the Petit College of Law at Ohio Northern University. He began his legal career as a solo practitioner in Hamilton County, assisting a variety of individuals and small businesses with their legal needs in civil and criminal matters.
In 2001, Chairman Mock joined the office of the Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney. While working there, he prosecuted thousands of criminal defendants, including some of the worst offenders in the county.
In 2004, he became a judge on the Hamilton County Municipal Court. For 11 years, Judge Mock presided over tens of thousands of cases. He also served as the county’s housing court judge, a position in which he successfully balanced the rights or property owners with the concerns of our communities over blight and urban decay. Judge Mock served two terms as the Presiding and Administrative Judge while on the Municipal Court.
In 2014, Judge Mock was elected to the First District Court of Appeals. Having served as both a trial attorney and a trial judge, Judge Mock was able to bring a level of practical knowledge to the bench that was essential to him assuming that role. He served three terms as the Presiding and Administrative judge. Judge Mock authored hundreds of opinions for the court in all areas of law.
In addition to his 17 years of experience as a judge and 27 years as a practicing attorney, Chairman Mock has remained active in several other areas touching on the legal profession. He has been a member of the Ohio State and Cincinnati Bar associations as well as the Ohio Judicial Conference. He was appointed by the Chief Justice to the Commission on Professionalism in 2018.
Judge Mock was a frequent lecturer on various legal topics. He has spoken to numerous organizations, including the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Lawyers Club of Cincinnati, the Hamilton County Police Association, and seminars offered by the First District Court of Appeals and the Hamilton County Municipal Court.
Judge Mock regularly volunteers his time working with several organizations. He has served as a judge for the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Mock Trial competitions, he has spoken at the University Of Cincinnati College Of Law’s Career Day, and he also works with the Talbert House, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, Operation Legal Help Ohio, Mount Aloysius, and the Karen Wellington Foundation.
Chairman Mock is the father of two daughters and lives in Hyde Park.
